Road Traffic Accident reconstruction (Click here for details)
Over the last few years, traditional boundaries have begun to disappear and the Police are no longer required to use the Forensic Science Service. Our instructions now come from Police Forces as well as defence lawyers and occasionally from the individuals concerned. The breadth of scientific procedures now being used in the forensic sphere often makes it hard to find an appropriate expert to evaluate the evidence. Hawkins' very wide range of expertise makes us the ideal place to start your search for a suitably qualified scientist. Our work encompasses aspects of:
Fire scene analysis
Electrical engineering
Geology
Mechanical engineering
Tool mark analysis
Road Traffic accident reconstruction
WHY APPOINT A FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR? The Police have access to a range of 'standard' scientific techniques such as DNA profiling, fingerprinting and cell site analysis. However, many cases throw up more unusual areas of technical evidence for which less orthodox forensic expertise is required. We have a tremendous range of experts whose academic and career experience encompasses:
Rail Traction
Research
ICI
US Department of Energy
Telecommunications Industry
Cosworth Engineering
Rolls Royce
The Welding Institute
BP
NERC Laboratories
Our experts have academic qualifications as:
Mechanical engineers
Chemists
Physicists
Geologists
Material Scientists
Electrical / Electronic Engineers
Metallurgists
Highway Engineers
Chemical Engineers
We are happy to help the Police and defence teams wherever we can bring our expertise to bear. HOW DOES HAWKINS CONDUCT CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS? Given the varied nature of our work this is very difficult to define. The following case study does, however, give an example of the nature of our work. We were called in to help the Police on a high profile murder enquiry involving two children. The Police had a suspect but little evidence to link that suspect to the place where the bodies had been found. Our scientist - a geologist - was able to match soil samples taken from the suspect's vehicle with samples of the material from the track where the bodies had been dumped. This led to the accused admitting that he had dumped the bodies thereby saving considerable time and money. |
