Registered as a Chartered Electrical Engineer Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology After graduating, Stephen joined GEC as a Design and Development Engineer. His experience there mostly involved work on electricity meters and radio data communications. Stephen then joined the BBC as a Broadcast Engineer where he gained experience in radio and television broadcast technology, including microwave terrestrial and satellite communications. For nine years Stephen was employed by a large consumer electronics company based in the Far East. There he designed and developed television and computer products. Part of his work involved obtaining product approvals to meet European Directives for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for CE marking. Later, he became Product Marketing Manager for the company. For eight years Stephen was employed by a well known UK based company supplying electronic military equipment and systems to the UK Ministry of Defence and others. There he gained experience in information display technology, underwater acoustics, magnetic sensors, data acquisition and telemetry, corrosion and cathodic protection and electrical power and control systems for ships and submarines. His work mainly involved military stealth technology, but also involved electrical power systems for industrial applications. In 2003 Stephen joined Hawkins and is currently based in their Birmingham office. Most of his work involves the investigation of fires, explosions, product liability, personal injury and engineering matters. He has worked on many cases where fraud or arson was suspected or involved. In 2005 Stephen obtained a qualification in the IEE Wiring Regulations and in 2006 he obtained a qualification in Fire Investigation from Edinburgh University. Stephen is experienced in the litigation process, having produced reports in connection with Court proceedings. |
