Richard started his career with Sun Alliance in Ipswich working in the Claims Department. During this period he studied the 10 subjects necessary to pass the Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

He joined Legal and General and moved to Leeds as Claims Manager in 1983, and became Regional Manager of the Mortgage Lenders Unit in 1990.

In 1996 he joined Halifax, now HBOS, to lead the team setting up Halifax General Insurance Company. He describes this time as "the most satisfying and scary time of my career". Having then set up the claims supply chain he moved to KPMG as a Consultant and found himself based in Zurich for the next 18 months as well as managing projects in Amsterdam and Milan.

He left consulting after three years stating that consulting was "a young persons' game" and joined Chem-Dry Restoration as Business Development Director. With five direct reports including marketing, Richard found himself in a totally new environment but managed to double turnover and profit, within four years.

Richard joined Hawkins in 2006 as Business Development Manager and has brought the marketing function in-house to exercise greater control of design, development and budget. He continues to use his knowledge of insurance, insurers, loss adjusters and the legal profession to good effect in developing and promoting the company and its services.

Based in the Leeds office Richard spends a lot of time on the road visiting clients and Hawkins offices. He feels that Hawkins gives a great service and encourages clients to give him a call if they have any concerns or suggestions.
