After completing his Masters degree Paul began work at the Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB) which was formally known as the Police Scientific Development Branch (PSDB). Initially he specialized in counter terrorist technologies, such as the detection of explosives, before moving into the field of Police weaponry.

While working in Police weaponry, Paul was responsible for the management of numerous projects including weapon and ammunition performance/evaluation and forensic ballistics. Paul is also experienced in weapons maintenance. He has managed projects concerned with technologies such as Taser, of which he has specialised knowledge.

Paul joined Hawkins in 2005 and has already undertaken over 100 forensic investigations involving mainly fire incidents but also explosion, engineering and personal injury claims. These investigations have included domestic incidents to multi-million pound insurance losses in factories and hotels.

Paul is experienced in producing documents and reports for litigation and has given evidence in Court as an expert witness.

Paul is currently an Associate based in the Cambridge office.
