DPhil MSc
Oxford University - Worcester College
Physical and Theoretical Chemistry - Worcester College Forensic Science - Kings College London As part of her final year research project for her first degree, Claire carried out a study of the oxidation of organic pollutants. She then remained at Oxford University to complete a DPhil at the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory. During this time, she spent four months at Syngenta, Huddersfield, working in the Process Development Group of this agrochemical company and learning new experimental techniques to further her DPhil research. Claire then went on to pursue her interest in forensic science and studied for the Master of Forensic Science Degree at Kings College, London. During this time, Claire worked at the Forensic Explosives Laboratory and developed a GC/FTIR method for the analysis of explosives. In November 2006, Claire joined Hawkins as a Forensic Claims Validation Investigator. The work involves the investigation of suspected fraudulent claims on behalf of insurance companies, through either visits to site or desktop analysis of documents. Examples of cases include paint spillages on carpet and furniture, and burn damage from cigarettes or irons. Claire has commenced training in the investigation of fires and hopes to bring her strong chemistry background to full use during her career at Hawkins. Claire is currently an Associate based in the Reigate office. |
